| We are
very conscious of the responsibilities that we bear towards the
environment in which we work. Beyond safeguarding our workplace,
the special relations we have with the peoples and places that
we show to our guests bring with them an emotional contract that
we are proud to honour.
Kikoti camp
for example, is situated on 35,000 acres and provides income to
a community of over 24,000 people. At each of the fire local villages:
Emboreet, Loiborsoit, Narakauo, Loiborsiret and Kimotorok, we
have contracted to build an administrative centre including a
small village school. In existing schools we have already built
and supplied school desks, books and other equipment that the
pupils would otherwise do without.
Throughout
the ranch we have cleared access roads maintained fire breaks
and erected bridges. A mobile health clinic brings relief to medical
complaints that would otherwise go untreated in this wilderness.
Furthermore, provision of a radio network, 2 vehicles and a ranger
force of 50 locally employed askaris operate anti-poaching patrols
throughout the area.
